Policy and Advocacy

Representing and strengthening Adult and Community Education across Aotearoa New Zealand

ACE Aotearoa provides leadership and advocacy for the Adult and Community Education (ACE) sector, promoting the value of lifelong learning and supporting policies that recognise the contribution of adult education to individuals, whānau and communities.

We work alongside ACE providers, educators, learners, government agencies and other stakeholders to identify emerging issues, share sector perspectives and contribute to the development of policies that support accessible, inclusive and quality adult learning opportunities.

Our policy and advocacy work is informed by the experiences and knowledge of the ACE sector, alongside research and evidence about the value and impact of adult and community education.

Our policy and advocacy work

ACE Aotearoa supports the sector through a range of policy and advocacy activities.

Collaboration and sector engagement

We work with ACE providers, members and other stakeholders to identify shared priorities, understand emerging challenges and contribute to collective approaches to sector development.

Promoting lifelong learning

We advocate for accessible and inclusive lifelong learning opportunities that recognise the diverse ways adults learn and the value of education beyond formal qualifications.

Working with the ACE sector

Effective policy and advocacy depend on understanding the experiences and priorities of the people and organisations involved in adult and community education.

ACE Aotearoa engages with members, providers and sector stakeholders to gather perspectives, identify common challenges and highlight opportunities for improvement.

These conversations help inform our advocacy, policy contributions and engagement with government agencies.

We encourage ACE educators and organisations to share their experiences and perspectives on issues affecting adult learning in their communities.
