Freedom to Fly Te Mana Rere Noa
In 1976 when Tanzania hosted the International Conference on Adult Education, President Julius Nyerere declared “the first function of adult education is to inspire both a desire for change, and an understanding that change is possible.”
Throughout the world, adult and community education continues to be synonymous with liberation and social empowerment. This year’s Adult and Community Education Conference theme Freedom to Fly reminds us that ACE empowers adults to find the freedom to fly in whatever direction they choose and at their chosen pace. Their journey may be short or it may take a lifetime.
This year’s conference theme also reminds us that ACE providers are forward-looking and innovative. We value thinking outside of the square and are at the forefront of learner-centred pedagogy. Working with limited resources over many years has made us focused, resilient and capable, with a strong sense of accountability.
Puta noa i te ao e haere tahi tonu ana te mātauranga pakeke, hapori hoki me te mana tangata, te whakamanatanga pāpori hoki. Ka whakamahara te kaupapa o te Hui Mātauranga Pakeke me te Hapori o tēnei tau, arā Te Mana Rere Noa, e whakamanatia te hunga pakeke e ACE kia rere ki ō rātou anō huarahi me ō rātou ake tere. He poto noa pea aua rerenga, ka haere tonu rānei mō roanga atu o ō rā.
