What is Festival of Adult Learning Ahurei Ākonga funding?

Grants of $300 - $500 are available for small events while larger grants will be allocated to communities or regions working together on a big event or range of events.

The 2019 Festival of Adult Learning Ahurei Ākonga, September 2-9 is a celebration of lifelong learning and a chance to promote the benefits of all adult learning.


What we fund

  • All event ideas will be considered for funding but funding will be allocated according to the scope and strength of event ideas, and preparedness of individuals and organisations to work together collaboratively or regionally.

Who can apply?

ACE Providers, community groups, and networks involved in adult and community education.


What is Adult and Community Education (ACE)?

Adult and Community Education (ACE) is part of New Zealand’s tertiary and broader education sector.  ACE is identified in many forms including informal education and non-formal education, post-compulsory education, adult learning, lifelong learning, leisure and recreation learning.  Through ACE adults may choose to engage in a range of education activities within the community.  It provides individual and group learning and promotes whānau empowerment, equity, active citizenship, critical and social awareness and sustainable development.
