In Australia a partnership between Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services and Melton City Council has produced a video ‘Welcome to the library reader’ which is also provided as a video. The reader comes with an accompanying teacher resource.

The project was provided with funding from the State Library of Victoria.

The aim is to raise awareness of libraries and the services they provide for the community.

The teacher resource provides a range of learning opportunities for both literacy and ESOL students.

There is also a welcome to the library song.

The Melton City Libraries collection includes items in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Macedonian, Maltese, Sinhalese, Spanish and Vietnamese.

The libraries also offer a job lab (cv writing and job search skills) and English conversation classes.
