Hui Fono 2024: Embracing Unity and Diversity in Adult and Community Education

From March 6th to 8th, 2024, Paratehoata (Tūnohopū) marae, Rotorua hosted the 15th Hui Fono. The gathering proved to be a transformative space for Māori and Pacific who work in adult and community education in Aotearoa.

This unique, annual event is a landmark of professional learning, offering a space for attendees to immerse themselves in a blend of cultural wisdom and educational insights.

Reading Revolution

Reading Revolution is a shared reading out loud programme that is taking place across Aotearoa in a wide range of venues – from libraries to retirement villages, the Auckland City Mission and U3A (University of the Third Age).

Tackling the Loneliness Epidemic

Community learning has an increasingly important role to play in tackling issues of loneliness.

A 2023 Meta-Gallup survey found that nearly one in four adults across the world have reported feeling very or fairly lonely. The survey, which was taken across 142 countries, found 24% of people aged 15 and older self-reported feeling very or fairly lonely in response to the question, “How lonely do you feel?”
