In July 2016 ComVoices surveyed over 280 community organisations in an effort to better understand the sector’s service delivery, resourcing and capacity issues.
Major findings were:
Service delivery: organisations are doing more with less while dealing with greater complexity
Financial pressures: nearly half of the organisations had been unable to offer staff any wage increases in the last two years; almost half are using reserves to fund service delivery; the sector is highly reliant on grants and sponsorship - organisations are spending more time trying to find alternative sources of funding, including generating their own income through trading activities.
Organisational pressures: organisations are restructuring, compliance costs are rising and relationships with funders deteriorating
8% of respondents were education services.
