The Impact of Trauma on Learning ACE Conference 2019.pdf

This is a workshop presentation delivered at the ACE Conference 2019.

Jennifer has extensive experience and skills in the research and facilitation of training and education programmes at the University of Canterbury, Ara, the Department of Corrections and a range of community education programmes. She has been an ACE Aotearoa Board member, co-ordinated Festival of Adult Learning events, attended the preparation conference for CONFINTEA VI in Korea and two Adult Learning Australia conferences. She is a governance member of Literacy Christchurch, a facilitator of “The Invisible Sentence” programme for Pillars and the co-chair of the Celia Lashlie Trust.

In her workshop, Jennifer will discuss the symptoms, impact and effects of trauma identified through her work with Christchurch Probation staff in the past year. There will be an opportunity to consider strategies for use in our practice so that we can work towards resisting further re-traumatisation for learners.
