Starting Off, Guidelines for tutors and adults learning together
First published in 1995 by the Department of Education, Wellington. Second edition published 1998 by the National Resource Centre for Adult Education and Community Learning. Click here for word version of this resource.

- www.goodpracticeparticipate.govt.nz - set up by the office for the community and voluntary sector. It has resources to help you gather information and consult your community. For example- participation techniques, efficient surveys and information collection techniques, assistance available when consulting specific groups (eg Maori, Pacific peoples, people with disabilities, rural communities, older people)
- www.acfe.vic.gov.au - good description of adult and community education in Victoria, good material and examples on clustering of ACE providers
- www.niace.org.uk - website of the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education in England and Wales. It's an excellent source of information on all aspects of adult learning.
- www.LSDA.org.uk - information on research to inform policy and practice; help to shape and communicate education policy; and improvement and support programmes for organisations that deliver post-16 education and training. Click on 'publications' for several guides available including 'Dancing on a Moving Carpet': Leading change for quality improvement in adult and community learning' and 'Fit for Purpose: Self-assessment for small providers'.
- www.lifelonglearning.co.uk - information about several aspects of adult learning in England including promoting learning, community learning and older learners.
- www.dia.govt.nz - Community Resource Kit is available on this site. It includes community development practice, setting up a community group, planning, employment, running meetings, project management, sources of funding and practical record keeping.
- www.ericsp.org - this is a literature database.
- www.edna.edu.au - resources for education and training, including materials, case studies and templates relating to ACE.
- www.community.net.nz - Up-to-date information about hui and events relevant to community groups; 'how to' guides, for example analysing community problems and solutions; and case studies of successful community initiatives.
- www.ala.asn.au - the Adult Learning Australia site has interesting information on several topics including building learning communities, research and links to other websites.
- www.lcc.edu.au - the Learning Communities Catalyst has been established to serve as a clearinghouse of information, research, case studies and practical tools to assist communities, councils, government, businesses, policy-makers and other stakeholders research, advocate for and develop learning communities.
- www.eaea.org - this is the topics page for the European Association for the Education of Adults. Scroll down the left hand side bar until you get to Quality Assurance and click. You may be interested in viewing the other topics to do with adult education as well.
- www.qualityacl.org.uk - site of the UK Learning and Skills Development Agency Learning and Quality Support Programme. A site completely dedicated to quality in adult education.
- www.aontas.com - AONTAS is the Irish National Association for Community Learning. This page provides contact details of staff working on their quality assurance project. If they are happy to put their contact details on the net they will probably be happy to talk to you about their work.
