FREE Festival of Learning Expo 2018 The Festival of Learning 2018 is a FREE interactive expo of adult education courses and workshops available in West Auckland. Over 40 organisations and groups who provide courses in gardening, languages, crafts, work place qualifications, apprenticeship opportunities, food making, compost making and even model aircraft will be showcasing what they have to offer! There will be demonstrations, interactive activities, activities for the kids and adults alike, and performances throughout the day. Bring the kids, bring your mum, bring your Nan and discover the world of life long learning... you never know where it will take you! 
Plus, share the Festival of Learning & Adult Learner's Week Awards 2018 Facebook page and join as going or interested and you will go in the draw to win a $100 WestCity voucher which will be drawn at 1pm at the event. Winners will be notified via the Festival of Learning event page and via private message. Natural Soap Making Demonstration at 12noon, Cake decoration demonstration at 12:30pm and from 1pm -2pm there will be a Gardening Demonstration and our tutor will be gifting away seedlings, teaching people how to prick out and transplant their own seedlings to take home and giving away tastes of microgreens.

Adult Learners Week Awards Ceremony 2018 During the Festival of Learning Expo 2018 we will be celebrating the people we know who are always striving to learn new things... because learning doesn't stop when we leave school... we learn throughout our lifetime.  The Adult Learners Week Awards Ceremony 2018 will take place at 11:30am at the central stage area. It is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of students, tutors and provider organisations who are achieving great things in the area of Adult Education in West Auckland.

•  Innovative Provider Award
•  AND a new award this year - Lifelong Learner Award

Pimp that Jacket! An afternoon sewing workshop in Geraldine with Maryclare Wood, who teaches at Opihi College, on upcycling clothes such as jackets, skirts and frocks using fabric scraps and spare items, to make original fashion statements.

Tee shirts can be converted into shopping bags, too.

Bring your own sewing machine, extension lead, garments to work on (which already fit you) and be ready to share fabric and haberdashery items – your unwanted colours, buttons, applique or trims could be another’s great find. Your tutor will also bring in some items to share.
