Description:

Adult Educators with an applied focus or organisations providing training 
The Certificate in Adult Teaching forms Part One of the Diploma in Adult Education and you may wish to progress to complete this further qualification.

Pre-Requisites:

Practicing adult educator or involvement in some kind of leading/mentoring role in an adult education environment, as well as meeting an English language requirement

Structure:

Eight core courses must be completed
Teaching and learning: Part A and Part B
Course design
Assessment
Cultural Issues for Learning
Information and Communication Technology for Teaching and Learning
Teaching Methods
Teaching Practicum

Duration:

Part-time over 1- 3 years - maximum time available 5 years - courses are offered as short blocks or weekly over approximately 10 weeks.

Description:

Teachers in educational or training role in tertiary institutions, voluntary organisations, vocational training and higher education and a range of organisations

Part-time study, courses available during the day and evenings to meet student needs.

NELSON MARLBOROUGH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Description:

Adult teachers and facilitators - practically based and will develop skills and confidence for teaching adults in a variety of settings.

Pre-Requisites:

Currently involved in an adult education role, a few hours of teaching is acceptable.

Structure:

Foundation Course - possible to complete (skills, confidence and principles of adult teaching) only, or return to other courses in the future

Description:

Adult and community teachers without teaching qualifications.

Pre-Requisites:

Involved in an education role (full or part-time, paid or volunteer)

Six modules -

Course design and Assessment

Duration:

Each module has 30 hours class time and 15 hours self-directed time, with flexible modules including night classes or in week-long blocks
