Description:
Adult teachers, facilitators in community adult education, tertiary teachers and lecturers in Polytechnics or Wananga, tutors and trainers in workplaces or private training establishments
Students often start with the Certificate in Adult Education and progress through to the Bachelor of Education, or those who have completed the required number of papers and teaching hours may exit early from the degree with the certificate or diploma.
Pre-Requisites:
The distance delivery has been designed for in-service, mainly part-time study by people already working in adult education. Candidates must hold appropriate qualifications and/or experience in the occupation or discipline area in which you teach adult learners, and be currently engaged in adult or tertiary education or training, or have access to adult learners and adult learning organisations in order to fulfil the practical requirements of the programme.
Structure:
24 papers, including 18 from Schedule 1 (BEd(AdultEd)) and 6 from either Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 (papers listed for other Bachelor degrees and the Graduate Diploma of Adult Learning and Teaching). 400 hours of experience in teaching adults is also required.

Duration:
Three years full time or equivalent part time.
Distance Learning:
Extramural study: individual student learning is supported by study guides, readings, Internet communications and full library facilities. Some papers include optional contact courses where you can meet other students to share ideas and activities. There is also some opportunity for face-to-face classes at selected off-campus sites.
