Professional development strategy

The ACE Professional Development Strategy and Action Plan 2006-2010 is available here: download PDF

The strategy is an opportunity for individuals in the ACE sector to enhance their skills and for the whole ACE sector to build its capacity and capability, and establish itself as an integral part of the tertiary education system.

It is aimed at integrating professional development into ACE practice at every level over the next five years.

The strategy identifies four main approaches to ACE professional development and contains an action plan prioritising activities.

The four main approaches identified are:

  • Development of a sector-led working group that oversees, coordinates and monitors the implementation of the strategy.
  • Formation of a core group of people to take a linking role in the sector.
  • Identification of ACE skills and competencies requiring professional development.
  • Building on ACE Networks and conferences.
The strategy and action plan were developed together with the sector, using several sources of information, such as interviews, discussions, workshops, feedback on the consultation document and a think-tank group of ACE experts and TEC advisors.
