Facilitators
This page provides information about the new PD Facilitation Pilot programme, and contact details for the PD Facilitators.
Nine new PD Facilitators are providing support for ACE professional development (PD) throughout the country. The model is being trialled from August 2007 - May 2008.
The PD Facilitators are available to support, encourage and enable practitioners and providers to identify how they might improve their practice. Anticipated facilitation (linking and mentoring) activities include:
- Linking practitioners and providers with:
- other appropriately skilled practitioners – trainers, mentors, those with experience and cultural knowledge
- existing PD opportunities, courses, classes, activities
- other learning resources – templates, models of effective practice, research, reports, other learning methods and models
- funding options
- new and existing networks, other communities of practice and ACE organisations
- an interactive and easily accessible PD website portal
- Identifying and supporting:
- the development of appropriate methods of identifying professional development needs
- key people within networks to take greater leadership, mentoring roles
- Recognising and valuing:
- the diversity of existing ACE PD practice by developing a database of models of effective practice for reference
- the cultural context of learning
- existing skills and knowledge by developing of a skill pool of practitioners to support learning and teaching
Implementation Process
The model has three distinct, although not necessarily linear stages
Initial contact and introduction – making connections within the sector via known ACE Networks, TEC funded ACE providers and known providers of PD opportunities (formal and informal).
- Spreading the net – extending and building the foundations for inclusion and mutuality. Make contact with any ‘other’ networks, emerging providers and practitioners.
- Making the links – Facilitators will actively work to strengthen capacity in the ACE sector by building links between practitioners and providers and appropriate PD resources, information, ideas, innovative practice, other practitioners and facilitators.
Contact with Facilitators
Information and contact with the Facilitators will come initially via TEC ACE Networks, with a particular focus in South Auckland, the East Coast of the North Island and the South Island
