TEC Regional Facilitation

The 2007 round of Regional Facilitation is now complete. Across the country nineteen ITPs have worked with providers and stakeholders to develop sixteen individual regional statements of tertiary education needs, gaps and priorities.

Regional facilitation and ACE

Overall ACE has not been well integrated into regional facilitation processes.

The Strategic Alliance is addressing the issue and has agreed to the following recommendations/action:

1. That ITPNZ urge its members to ensure a full and active engagement with the ACE sub-sector of the tertiary sector, in the ongoing regional facilitation process.
2. That ITPs seek to engage ACE agencies in their regions in their usual institutional processes that are directed at identifying education and community development needs (see note below)
3. That the TEC require polytechnics to involve ACE agencies in their region in a meaningful way in the regional facilitation process
4. That the TEC engages with the ACE Strategic Alliance to develop a programme of work to strengthen engagement between the ACE sector and ITPs
5. That the TEC provide tangible support for the ACE networks to engage meaningfully in the regional facilitation process.

Consideration be given to funding of the networks for regional facilitation and a support and capability role for ACE Aotearoa.
