
New web site for adult literacy and numeracy launched
On 23 June 2009 the University of Waikato has launched a website to support adult literacy and numeracy. This is part of their work for the TEC in establishing a National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults.
The literacy and numeracy for adults website presents quality information and resources to support those engaged in strengthening the literacy and numeracy of adults in New Zealand.
The site's key collection can be found in the interactive Learning Progressions and Resources section. It includes purposeful teaching and learning activities linked to the progressions.
The Information section provides guidelines and advice on how to embed the explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy into existing education and training programmes.
The site will expand and evolve under the leadership of the University of Waikato as it establishes the National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults.
