
Ako
Ako Aotearoa is a national centre dedicated to assisting educators and organisations to deliver the best possible outcomes for all learners. The Centre will support research and inquiry into effective teaching; it will identify and celebrate effective teaching; it will support efforts to enhance and improve teaching and learning; it will provide policy advice on teaching and learning in the tertiary sector; and it will act as an information repository and resource for the support of effective teaching. The Ako Aotearoa National Project Fund supports strategic initiatives to improve tertiary teaching and learning. The fund is tertiary specific and focuses on the benefits of tertiary education for learners.
There are four objectives of the National Project Fund, to:
- Enhance educational outcomes for learners
- Promote collaboration across and within different parts of the tertiary education sector
- Contribute to the development of a more coherent knowledge base of effective tertiary teaching and learning in Aotearoa - New Zealand
- Build research capability and capacity
Invitation to apply for Regional Hub Project Funding
Ako Aotearoa has funding available for up to $10,000 per project through our Regional Hubs. Proposals may be for either research or activity projects and should align with our vision to create and support the best possible educational outcomes for learners in the tertiary sector.
Ako Aotearoa Good Practice Publication Grants
The Ako Aotearoa Good Practice Publication Grants have been established to celebrate and share high quality teaching and learning practice across the tertiary education sector.Thirty-five grants of up to $5,000 are available to enable departments, centres, groups or individuals to obtain time and resources from their organisation to share their proven good practice, for publication on the Ako Aotearoa Website. The grants will support the development of either a: paper in either English or Te Reo Māori – preferably with some digital photographs (2000 words long) on the practice, or a digital media presentation (10 minutes long).
