John Young - Inspirational Learner

When John Young realized that shearing sheep was not something he could do forever because of its huge physical demands, he looked around for an alternative career. He was interested in therapeutic massage but knew he would have to improve his literacy skills if he was to manage the course work required for a qualification in the area.

With the help of Southern Adult Literacy, John was able to gain his qualification in therapeutic Massage and is now studying towards a degree in Sports Science and running a business part time.

John says after struggling with literacy at school he would never have imagined he could achieve a university degree. Since he became a Dad, he has also enjoyed being able to share stories with his daughter.
